Current Supervisor Ellen Thurston is the endorsed Democrat for 3rd Ward Supervisor.
Ellen, who has lived in Hudson for 18 years, has the knowledge and the experience to continue representing Hudson’s 3rd Ward on the county level, at the Columbia County Board of Supervisors.
Experience
As 3rd Ward Supervisor, Ellen serves on three Board of Supervisors committees: Human Services, County Government, and Economic Development and Planning.
Prior to winning election as Supervisor, Ellen was elected three consecutive terms as an Alderman for the Third Ward on the Common Council of the City of Hudson. As Alderman, Ellen served as:
- Democratic Majority Leader
- Board member of the Hudson Development Corporation, Hudson Community Development & Planning Agency and Hudson Industrial Development Agency
- Chair of two Common Council Committees: Arts, Entertainment and Tourism, and Legal
- Chair of the 2099 Quadricentennial Committee
- Chair of Columbia County Partners in Tourism Committee
- Hudson Rotary Club 2010 Citizen of the Year
- Producer of the Hudson Opera House Winter Walk for the past 12 years
- Publisher of “Ellen’s Picks,” a widely distributed email newsletter on Hudson events
