Not Just Talk—Real Work, Real Solutions”

Top Issues for Hudson
  • Work with state as well as other county leaders to make Hudson the economic engine that is has been in years past
  • Keep county taxes as low as possible, while still providing the county residents needed services
  • Continue to forge a relationship with other supervisors to keep the needs of Hudson, the county seat, in the forefront of discussion and action

Accomplishments
  • The first budget during my tenure as Minority Leader, the Board of Supervisors put together a budget with a -04% tax reduction.
  • Serving in a new role of Board of Supervisors Minority Leader for the last two years, I have been effective in developing a relationship across party lines for the greater good of Columbia County as a whole and Hudson in particular.
  • Was successful in persuading county leadership to fund a new program, Reentry Columbia, a task force that provides services to men and women recently released from jail and prison, which has the potential to save the county hundreds of thousands of dollars over the next few years.
  • Worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations and the Hudson City School District to acquire a federal Promise Neighborhood grant, one of only 15 granted nationwide. If we succeed next in acquiring a Promise Neighborhood implementation grant, we will be able to change forever the way we educate students in the Hudson City School District.
  • Assisted city government, the Mental Health Association of Columbia and Greene Counties and the Hudson City School District in collaborating to receive an AmeriCorps education grant, which will create 40 full-time and part-time jobs in the City of Hudson.
